The stones had been formed into a wall for at least a couple hundred years now, removed from the field and walling it; a field now returned to forest but with a few cellars holes, a small cemetery and the occasionally visible article of daily life from when the forrest was field.
ReplyDeleteThe wall carries moss in it's shadows and is bald to the sun. The leaves from previous autumns mortar it. It no longer sits upon the ground but appears to be protruding from it, and is sure return to it completely.
